April 10-11: Entrepreneurship@Cornell Celebration

The third annual E@C Celebration will be held here in Ithaca on April 10-11, 2008. Highlights will include: Keynote address from the 2008 Cornell Entrepreneur of the Year; a gala dinner hosted by President Skorton; a resource and technology expo; symposia on the topics of entrepreneurship in hospitality, real estate, health, agriculture, food and life sciences, venture capital and sustainability; and a Cornell Entrepreneur Network (CEN event).

Entrepreneurship @ Cornell Celebrations CCTEC Showcase

For our last S&S, until the fall, we have a exciting speaker lined up: Rajit Manohar, associate professor of electrical and computer engineering and the co-founder/CTO of Achronix Semiconductor Corporation. He will share his experience starting the company.

Startup Boot Camp

Open to: Cornell community and all those interested in technology-based entrepreneurship.

Day long event culminating in a networking cocktail reception and dinner for attendees. Panels of experts in the areas of starting life sciences and physical sciences companies as well as a legal and operational issues panel. Our key note lunch speaker will be John Alexander,’74, founder of The CBORD Group.

Babcock Elevator Pitch Competition

Hosted by the Wake Forest University MBA program, the event Babcock Elevator Pitch Competition attracts pioneering MBA candidates from around the nation's top programs, creating one of the premier business plan competitions and vehicle for successfully launching a company.

BR Ventures: Business Idea Competition 

The BR Ventures Business Idea Competition provides a way for Cornell-affiliated individuals and current students and faculty at other universities to take their first step toward turning an idea into a viable business. The Entry Teams that submit the best Business Ideas will present their Idea before BR Ventures and judges from the venture capital community. The top three teams will compete for $20,000 in cash prizes and be considered for investment by BRV and business incubation by BRV's sister organization, BR Incubator. 

Fortune Small Business Student Showdown

To qualify for the Fortune Small Business Student Showdown, students must have won the top prize in their school’s internal business plan competition - for the Johnson School it's the Busess Idea Competition.

Global Social Venture Competition

A partnership of the Haas School of Business, Columbia Business School, The Goldman Sachs Foundation and the London Business School, the Global Social Venture Competition brings together the academic and financial worlds to support the creation of social ventures.

Licensing Executives Society Business Plan Competition

The Licensing Executives Society, Inc. (LES) is the preeminent professional organization in the field of intellectual property (IP) transfer and commercialization in the U.S., and Canada. Each year the LES Foundation hosts a graduate student business plan competition. The program stands alone as the only international graduate student business plan competition that focuses on IP and where participants receive valuable mentorship from professionals in the field who share their expertise through comprehensive feedback on each plan. The winning team will receive $10,000 and in-kind prizes worth up to $45,000.

MBA Jungle Business Plan Challenge

MBA Jungle Business Plan Challenge is the largest and only truly global competition for business schools. If selected, your team will be invited to compete for thousands of dollars, start-up services, and access to funding from partner-level venture capitalists and entrepreneurs. The challenge will attract the most talented and driven entrepreneurial talent from the world's business schools. Semi-finalists and finalists pitch principal-level investors.

McGinnis Venture Competition

The only venture competition for MBA students that focuses on bringing new technologies to market through entrepreneurship, McGinnis Venture Competition, hosted by Carnegie Mellon, offers cash prizes and an automatic berth in Moot Corp®. It's a different kind of competition because it revolves around emerging industries such as information technology, biotechnology, robotics, nanotechnology and telecommunications.

Moot Corp Competition

The first competition of its kind for MBA students, Moot Corp Competition, has been crowned "the Super Bowl of world business plan competition." With aspiring entrepreneurs soliciting start-up funds from experienced investors, the MOOT CORP® Competition simulates the real-world process of raising venture capital. MBAs from business schools around the globe to present their business plans to panels of investors. From among myriad offerings is selected the best new-venture opportunity. With a 21-year history, the MOOT CORP Competition is the oldest operating inter-business school new-venture competition and hosts teams from top-ranked MBA programs around the world.

Oxford University Business Plan Competition

Anyone can enter the Oxford University Business Plan Competition – individuals, teams, new companies, existing companies creating spin-offs, scientists, students and entrepreneurs. Ideas can be science, technology, medicine or design-based. As in previous years, there will be tremendous opportunities for all participants to access a wide network of valuable contacts and a chance to engage in training through a series of workshops on the process and stages of Business Planning. We also provide one-to-one mentoring and coaching to competitors on request.

Purdue Life Sciences Business Plan Competition

The Purdue Life Sciences Business Plan Competition seeks commercially viable business plan entries for innovative products and services in the life sciences industry such as medical equipment and devices, pharmaceuticals and drugs, research services, and software.

Rice University Business Plan Competition

The Rice University Business Plan Competition is the largest intercollegiate business plan competition in the United States, based on the number of teams competing on a single campus. This three-day event is intended to simulate the real-world process of entrepreneurs soliciting start-up funds from early-stage investors and venture capital firms. The Competition is hosted by the Rice Alliance for Technology and Entrepreneurship and Jesse H. Jones Graduate School of Management at Rice University. Teams attending RBPC have the opportunity to meet and network with over 100 venture capital principals, early stage investors, successful entrepreneurs and/or senior business leaders who will serve as judges for the competition. unparalleled experience for the participants by designing a diverse program over the course of three-days; with significant time designated for feedback and interaction with the judging panel.

University of San Francisco International Business Plan

The University of San Francisco International Business Plan is one of the world's premier graduate university business plan competitions. Graduate students from every nation are invited to submit business plan proposals for participation. The real prize is the chance to offer your business proposal before leading Silicon Valley venture capitalists and chief executives. As the only university business plan competition in Silicon Valley open to teams from other universities, the USF International Business Plan Competition provides a unique entrepreneurial opportunity. The Grand Prize Winner of the USF Contest is also automatically entered into the University of Texas Moot Court Competition ($100,000 Equity Investment for Winner), the recognized Super Bowl of Business Plan Competitions.
